Imagine doing a job where on can have more time at home with one’s family ,have true flexibilty in deciding one’s working time,almost never ever needing to travel to work,acquire job-skills that are evaluated highly in today’s [cut-throat] competitive world and all this while you earn good money compared to all those claims of tricksters promising ‘greenbacks’ for cheap spam generating work from home.This may sound like a fantasy but there is a job that almost gives you all of the above.We are talking about Medical Transcription. A medical transcriptionist transcribes or converts to text, dictated audio recordings from doctors and physicians and creates medical reports from the same.He may also need to process hospital correspondence or other administrative documents related to the hospital.This is done by use of a headset to hear and transcribe the recorded dictation.These days transcriptionists also use foot pedals to put in necessary pauses while listening to the audio recording. The job of a medical transcriptionist has a lot of [job-security] going with it.So long as people get diseases,get injured or visit a clinic for any possible reason, there will be jobs for medical transcriptionists. The sole requirement for being a medical transcriptionist is a good command over English language,a fair knowledge of medical terminology and good skills in handling equipments required for transcriptioning work. Job opportunities for employment in MT are expected to increase constantly. In fact,it is estimated that it would grow faster than the mean rate of growth of all other jobs,at least upto 2012.There are many factors that are helping it to keep on rising. The greying mass among the general demography has been the primary reason for this growth. This domain normally needs medical care more than others and hence the associated documentation for diagnosis,prognosis and other tests.Transcriptioning will satisfy the constant requirement for digitized documentation.If not for preparation of patient’s medical history,medical transcriptionists surely be in demand to edit patients’ medical records and correct the errors in patient’s medical records.
