DrDon5 posted the video:
The solution to the healthcare crisis in California is Senate Bill 840 (Kuehl) which would provide comprehensive healthcare coverage for all for life for less. This film explains how it works.

With taxes less than private insurance premiums, individuals, families, and businesses would come out ahead. Pooling resources and negotiating with durable equipment suppliers and pharma will permit us to buy more and better equipment and cheaper and better drugs. Fair and equitable fees for doctors and other providers will be collectively negotiated, and then adjusted regularly. Getting rid of private insurance that drains funds and offers no actual healthcare is the key to the solution.

You’re right. The economy is imploding. But that only means more people without healthcare. The tax for a single payer system would be less than your private health insurance premium, so you would save money and get more coverage. If we maximize the risk pool with everyone paying into the system and get rid of private insurance that takes 30% off the top, there is plenty of money to cover everyone. In fact, it’s the only way to afford the cost of the aging boomers’ healthcare.

4) Thus the system would either over burden the people by taxes and they will leave the state OR The payout to doctors and hospitals will be heavily cut and the doctors will leave and the quality of care at hospitals will go down as thy cant afford to maintain nor buy new equipment.

This video is missing a couple of real issues.
1) America is going broke.
2) The american people are already overtaxed and this system imposes the cost of healthcare on everyone as an additional tax.
3) The baby boom bubble has just begun to burst. That means the much smaller healthy population is going to be burdened with a flood of heath expenses.

i think this is the best idea ever and i think it should be done in the whole usa not just cali, but the question that arises is can we afford to leave so many people without jobs right now? i mean how many people work with health insurance companies? if we could get around this, i think this is what should be done

Never said “I” was very educated, and two it’s very annoying when someone points out a typo or a mispelled word being that spelling doesn’t reflect on IQ levels nor logical intellence.
LOL @ you.

I find it ironic when people brag about how educated they are, yet can’t seem to use the word ‘their’ in the correct context.

Well, I find your view of religion completely insane, but you are free to believe whatever you look no matter how misguided it is.
i do agree with you, some people are not born as lucky as others, but why punish the people who were born lucky or worked their way up the ladder? Personally, I will help anyone out that needs help, but FORCING people to assist those in need is a completely different story. It is not truly compassion when you spend someone else’s money to help someone

I hate how republicans are against everything that doesn’t benefits them or relates directly to there own life style. I find it ironic that out of the 10 states that test lowest on an academic level… only 1 is a blue state. 1 is a swing, and the other 8 are red states. Makes you think doesn’t it. I guess stupidity relates to simple minded political views. Ahem…sitdown248. LOL! It’s funny when people try to debate based on there opinion.

LOL! Religion is too ridiculous to debate. It’s like debating that Disney’s The Lion King is a true story.
And why is it considered selfish you ask? Well because many people in this country are unlucky and are born into poverty so it’s much tougher for them to find success and decent jobs compared to someone who has parents that have money to send them to college and ect. Your opinion is bias, bottom line. I’ve been very lucky to be raised in a wealthy family, however many people are not.

First off, I think your view of “simple minded conservative” is well…simple minded. The fact is, you cannot discount my argument, why is it considered selfish to have everyone earn their own way, and why is it unselfish to have someone else pay for you?
Gay marriage is a completely different debate. You guessed correctly on the first half, I do believe it is wrong. However, I firmly disagree that Christianity is “fictitious” and would love to talk more about that, send me a message
On Mar 13, 2009, axemurderer8 said:
You just have a typical simple minded conservative and selfish view. I bet you also think gays shouldn’t be able to marry. and that the very fictitious Christian religion should be involved even more in our government?

My comment is not selfish. Think about this for a second. WHAT IS MORE SELFISH? Punishing people for not working, or punishing people for working? Under your system, the guy who actually does have a good job and can obtain benefits gets punished, under mine, the guy who does not have a job with benefits gets punished. I think it is much more logical to have your system benefit the working
On Mar 14, 2009, axemurderer8 said:
I think your comment is selfish, and ignorant. Not everyone is fortunate enough to obtain a job with decent benefits, nor make enough money to afford insurance period. I hope you loose your job and benefits and then get in a car accident so you can’t afford to fix a broken neck, and then you can think different about healthcare would be.

Health is not life. A right to life means that no one can take it away. Simply not providing healthcare does not take someone’s life away. Tell me we have a right to property, does that mean we need a 100-acre farm as well? Life does not include healthcare simply because that is a means to extending it, not the right itself. If you want to enhance your rights, etc, that is your own responsiblity. Are we going to force everyone to own a gun as well?

“all citizens are guaranteed life”
Uh… whoopsie! LOL He slipped a Freudian. Exactly. And life is certainly guaranteed by good health. Basic blood tests, CBCs, WBCs, liver panel, lipid profile, MRI, CT Scan, currently free in UK, Norway, and Sweden, Sweden having 3rd highest Life Expectancy in the world. Whooopie.

Public schools went not implemented until much further along. How many times do I need to explain this, I don’t support public schools, I believe they are wrong. However, they are already established. You are correct, those aren’t in the Constitution, but all citizens are guaranteed life, liberty, and property. The government has an oblagation to protect these
On Mar 20, 2009, superc said:
Aw, calm down now, “Government is simply created to protect citizens from each other.” Then why do we have public schools? Last time I checked, the constitution does not have “build fire stations and police department in every county” stipulated to it. LOL Don’t worry, the Universal Health Care for California has already been passed and just awaiting for the Governator, who enjoyed socialized health care in Austria, to sign it. It won’t affect you at all LOL. The beauty of Liberty!
On Mar 23, 2009, sitdown248 said:
First off, the government has NO oblagatiion to supply citizens with healthcare. If they do, that is going above and beyond what government originally was meant to do. Government is simply created to protect citizens from each other. Meaning no one can kill you, take what you have, or tell you what you can and cannot do. Since when is it their oblagation to extend a person’s life? What next, anytime a person has a poor life, the government has to supply them with money?
On Mar 23, 2009, superc said:
Oh no, LOL if the government is “obliged” to “protect” my property, then they shouldn’t be using my money and “steal” it, according to you. It’s like an infant paying her mother for every pint of breast milk. Her mom has an “obligation” but the child pays? Forests are far away from us. Why should I be paying for forest fire containment? Those people who live there should, not me. That’s “stealing”. My body is my first property, why don’t they “protect” that first?
